Applying for Medical Assistance
From Autism Transition Handbook
To apply for Medical Assistance, you can go directly to your local County Assistance Office and apply in person. This is the best way because a caseworker reviews your application, and discusses your situation and helps decide what options are best for you. You can also apply online at www.compass.state.pa.us. The County Assistance Office will review your application and a caseworker will contact you through the mail or telephone to discuss your application. You may also choose to mail your application into the local County Assistance Office. Contact the office if you cannot download a copy of the application, and ask them to mail you an application, then complete it and return it to them. This is a lengthier approach. Highlight on the application that it is for a disabled child to expedite the process.
